A TRADITION OF FARMING
Farming has always been a backbone to the town of Pontiac and all of the surrounding towns in Livingston County. Every Labor Day weekend the Pontiac area helps to celebrate the tradition of farming in this nation by holding the Central States Thresherman’s Reunion. This event features rock crushing, threshing, sheep shearing, tractor pulls, among other traditional farming activities. The reunion was the result of a dream and work of Dan S. Zehr, who wanted to acquaint a younger generation with the romance of the old steam threshing days and give oldtimers a chance to reminisce. The reunion has been an annual event in the Livingston County area since 1949.
